The 10-day boost

A free ten-day check on your church’s Google listing. We scan your town on day one, you do ten small jobs on your own listing, and we scan your town again on day ten so you can see what moved. Your listing is the free entry Google shows for your church on Maps and in search.

The boost starts from your preview. Open your report and press Start my 10-day boost.

How it works

  1. Day 1

    Your first map

You run the free ranking preview and see where your church ranks in Google Maps at 25 spots around your town, and we save that scan as your starting line.

  2. Days 1 to 10

    Ten small jobs

Your report shows one job a day for your own Google listing, about fifteen minutes each. You do them under your own login, so we never need a password.

  3. Day 10

    Your second map

We scan the same 25 spots with the same search and email you a link. Your report then shows the two maps side by side with plain notes on what changed.

The ten jobs

Each one is a setting on your Google listing or a note to people in your church. Do them in this order or in your own.

  1. Day 1

    Claim and verify your listing

Search for your church on Google Maps and press the button that says you own the business. Google asks you to prove it, usually with a code by phone or postcard. If someone else already holds your listing, ask Google for ownership.

  2. Day 2

    Set your main category

Pick Church, or the kind of church you are, such as Baptist church or Methodist church. The main category is the first thing Google reads to learn what kind of place you are.

  3. Day 3

Add service times and office hours

Enter Sunday worship and any midweek services, then your office hours. Families searching on a Sunday morning see these first.

  4. Day 4

    Check your address and phone

Keep your street address showing. Families use it to find you, and Google can place a listing on the map only when it has an address. Make the address and phone number match your website, letter for letter.

  5. Day 5

    Add ten real photos

Take photos of your building, your sanctuary and your people, with permission. Real photos tell a visitor what Sunday looks like.

  6. Day 6

    Write your description

Say in plain words who you are, where you meet, what a first visit is like and when to come, and leave out sales language.

  7. Day 7

    Link your website

Add your website and a link to a page with service times or a plan-a-visit page, so a family finds the answer quickly.

  8. Day 8

    Ask for reviews

Ask people who attend to leave an honest Google review, and ask everyone and not only the ones you expect to be glad, and never give anything in return for a review.

  9. Day 9

Answer reviews and post an update

Reply to every review, kind or critical, in your own voice. Then post one update about your next event or sermon series.

  10. Day 10

Match Apple Maps, Bing and Facebook

Search for your church on each one and make the name, address and phone number match your Google listing.

What it asks of you

An email address, your church’s name and town, and about fifteen minutes a day for ten days. It costs nothing and needs no credit card, password or contract, and you keep both maps whatever they show.

What if the map barely moves

Then the report says so. Google can take weeks to show changes to a listing, and some towns have several churches with years of reviews. You keep both maps and a plain note on what to do next.

Why it is free

Your own map is the most useful thing we can show you. Some churches ask us to do the work afterward, and we give them the price before any work starts, and many do the ten jobs themselves.

What we do

  • Scan your town on day one and on day ten with the same search from the same 25 spots
  • Check your Google listing for the seven things a visitor looks for
  • Email you the link to your report both times

What we do not do

  • Ask for a password or log in to any of your accounts
  • Send fake searches or clicks to Google, which breaks Google’s rules and can get a listing suspended
  • Suggest hiding your church’s address
