Google Business Profile setup for churches

A Google Business Profile is the free listing Google shows for your church on Google Maps and in Google Search, with your address, service times, phone number, photos and website. When a family searches for a church on a phone, the profile is what they see before they ever reach your website. At Church SEO Experts we set up every part of it for your church.

What we set up

• Who owns it

  The profile belongs to the church through a church email account, with a second person from the church as a manager, so nobody is locked out when one person leaves. If someone outside the church holds the profile today, we help you ask Google to hand it over.

• Category

  The main category tells Google what kind of place you are. We pick the most specific one that fits, such as Baptist church or Non-denominational church, because Google matches searches like “baptist church near me” against it. When we searched Google Maps for “church near me” across Topeka, Kansas on October 13, 2026, 73 of the 183 listings that came up, nearly all of them churches, had the plain category Church.

• Street address and pin

  Your profile shows the street address where the church meets, with the map pin on the building, because Google places a church on the map by its address and a family needs it to find you on Sunday. If your profile hides its address, we set it to show.

• Service times

  We put your service times in the profile’s hours, and before Christmas Eve and Easter we add those services as special hours for the day. Searches for “christmas eve service near me” rose from about 2,400 in November 2025 to 90,500 in December 2025, by Google’s figures, which we read on October 13, 2026 through DataForSEO, a service that reports Google’s search counts.

• Photos

  We add photos of the building from the street, the door people use on Sunday, the room where you worship and the parking lot, so a family knows what to look for when they pull in. If you have none yet, we send you a list of photos to take on a phone.

• Description and details

  We write a plain description that gives your denomination or affiliation, when you meet and where children go during the service, and we fill in your phone number, your website and whether the entrance takes a wheelchair.

After the setup

Everything stays in your church’s account, and anyone you make a manager can change it. When a service time changes, change the profile the same week, and our guide to a church’s Google Business Profile shows where each setting lives.
