• Service times and address on the home page

  Your Sunday service times and street address go near the top of the home page as plain text, where a visitor and Google can both read them. Times that appear only inside a picture or a slideshow are easy for both to miss.

• Church structured data

  Structured data is a short block of code in the page that tells Google, in a form it reads directly, that the site belongs to a church, with its name, address, phone number and service times. It uses a shared vocabulary called Schema.org, which has a type named Church, and visitors never see it.

• Speed on a phone

  We test the home page with PageSpeed Insights, Google’s free speed test, and fix what slows it down, such as photos many times larger than the screen. Google’s guidance on its web.dev site counts a page as good when its main content appears within 2.5 seconds.

• Name, address and phone

  The church’s name, address and phone number on the site match the Google profile exactly, the phone number dials when someone taps it, and the address opens a map.

• Page titles

  Each page gets a title that names the church and its town, such as “Cedar Hill Baptist Church, Lawrence, Kansas” for a sample church, because the title is the line people click in Google’s results.
