A map scan of your town
Google shows each person the churches closest to where they are standing when they search, so your church can come up first on one street and not at all a mile and a half away. A map scan runs the same search from points all over your town and records where your church shows at each one.
How we run it
Church SEO Experts lays a grid of evenly spaced points over your town and searches Google Maps from each one, once for “church near me” and once for your kind of church, such as “baptist church near me” for a Baptist church. At each point we record where your church falls in the first 20 results Google lists, or mark that it is missing.
You get the result as a map of your town with a number at each point, green for the top three, amber for fourth to tenth, red for 11th to 20th and gray where your church is missing.
One church in Topeka, Kansas
On October 13, 2026 we ran “church near me” on Google Maps from 25 points across Topeka, each a mile and a half from the next. This is the result for one church on the north side of town, and we have left out its name.
A church on the north side of Topeka
- 1 to 3
- 4 to 10
- 11 to 20
- 20+ is not in the top 20
The church came first at the point nearest its building, about a third of a mile away. It was second and third at the two points beside that one, and 12th, 17th and 20th a little farther out. At the other 19 points it was not in the top 20, and across all 25 points, 22 different churches came first.
Before and after the work
The scan tells us which fixes to make first. When the work is done we run the same scan from the same points, so you can lay the two maps side by side.
